I’ve had my joeys for 7 weeks now and how our lives have changed! Radar is a beautiful little Red neck, and Willis a gorgeous whip-tail. It’s amazing to see how much they’ve grown. They could hardly stand up and were very wobbly on their legs, now they hop around their yard very confidently. Radar likes to speak out and Willis almost flies around their yard; no wonder whiptails are called the grey fliers!

Their personalities are so different; Radar gutses his bottle, sucking the teat right in, has finished his bottle as soon as he can, where Willis sucks his bottle gently and consistently, taking his time like a little gentleman. With all the liners, bags sheep skins, bottles, milk formulas and all the washing and hygiene; early rising and late to bed; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You certainly have a different mind set when you have joeys. It’s wonderful, a real privilege to care for them. My husband Tom is so much help, building stands, a pen, laying turf, planting trees, as well as feeding and toileting. He shares in my passion when it comes to animals and I must drive him crazy with all my ramblings on a day to day basis.

Everyone in WIRES have been so helpful and willing to lend you things, teach and offer you advice. There are many I would like to thank individually, however, there are too many people to mention you all. So I say a big warm thank you. I am proud and honoured to be a WIRES member; it’s a wonderful organisation.
